My first week in Deutschland…

I arrived in Bruchsal last Sunday, January 7th, and right away met my landlady, Ms. Gredler. She has connections everywhere in Bruchsal, and she has been incredibly helpful to me. Right now I am staying in the downstairs apartment which is very nice, but in two more weeks I will move to the upstairs apartment which is even nicer. Here are a few of my current roommates:

On my first day at Peter’s clinic, one of the first people I met was my colleague from America, Sherry Reeves and her daughter Shiloh. It was really great to follow their treatments all week, especially because their sessions with Peter were translated into English.

All last week I sat in on Peter’s sessions with his patients. It was both wonderful and terrifying! Wonderful to hear him expounding his theories, and terrifying to realize the current inadequacy of my German. However, it can only improve as time passes!!

On the whole, I am really enjoying being in Germany. The rhythm of things is quite different here. Lots of businesses close for a couple of hours midday, early on Saturday, and all day on Sunday. The thing to do on Sunday is eat a long and delicious meal with friends or family, and then take a walk. I walked through this field this afternoon. Yes, it is this green in January, no doubt due to global warming, but it is supposed to be cold tomorrow. Let’s see how I will cope with real weather!

Hi Ruth and glad you are safe and in Germany and am sure you will do much better with the language as time goes on. Good to know you are well and hope your stay will be productive and a lot of fun for you. Christina and I had a cup stop this morning in San Diego and as always it was wonderful to see her. Be well and safe.

Hi Ruth! Wow! I had no idea that you were even going to Germany! How long will you be there? I can’t wait to hear all about your exciting adventures! Thanks for including me in your blog. I will be keeping my eye on it so I can hear the latest news. Whenever you get back be sure to save some time for me, Denise and Charlene so we can all get together and get caught up on all that you are learning there. Until then, much love, and big hugs! Stay warm!

Ruth! GREAT photos and fun stories…what a kick! It’s exciting to think how much your German is going to improve and how intuitive it will become. I know you can do it!! Keep it coming for all of us who miss you already! It’s cold in San Diego too…and windy today. So you aren’t missing much!

Can’t wait to see “upstairs”. Downstairs left me speechless.

Dear Ruth,
How exciting for you to realize your dream. What a thrill it must be to be working with Peter. I am so very happy for you. You seem to have a lot of protection with all those heads on your wall. Did you study German before you went? I can’t wait to catch up on your further adventures. Thank you for including me on your blog. How long do you plan on spending at the clinic? Lots of love, Betty
